Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best rental:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean Blue 502 - Oceanfront, Indoor Lazy River, Pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
