Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking the rightrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Creek Resort Condo - You and Me by the Sea has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
