Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking yourrental home:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Dunes villas #24, stay close to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
