Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Forest Plaza Unit 2313 - Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
