Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Forest Villas A307 - Oceanview! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
