Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Lazy Lobster Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
