Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking the bestrental:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Raised Beach House in Myrtle Beach 1 Block from the Ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
