Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean View Condo Sea Mist 50403 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
