Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Seawatch Resort - King Bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
