Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Finding the best vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean View Suite with Access to Resort Amenities has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
