Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • First, have your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront! - All New! Ultra Modern Farmhouse Chic at the Beach! Just Listed! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
