Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your group commit to date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront - Million Dollar View with Stunning Updates!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
