Our top Rental home tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Corner oceanfront 2BR @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
