Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Corner oceanfront 2BR @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
