Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 3 BR Condo Tons of Amenities 3rd Flr has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
