Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Ocean Lakes MH-202, Ramp for handicap access, 4bed 2 bath, sleeps 8 has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
