Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Amazing Oceanfront Huge King Suite, 18th Floor, Walk-in Shower has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
