Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.

- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental.
