Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront Family Friendly Condo- Beautiful Views! Steps to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
