Our top Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront pools hot tubs lazy river three bedroom two bath full kitchen washer dryer has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
