How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanside Village 2 Bedroom Unit Walk to the Beach with Golfcart has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
