Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Blue Horizon Condo w\/ oceanview, pool, 4 beds has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
