Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Condo Short Walk to the Beach at Boardwalk Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
