Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sands Ocean Club 223 - 2BD\/2BA OcnView has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
