How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. ON The Beach 2 bed\/ 2 bath 1st Floor Condo Only Steps To The Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
