Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Holiday Towers, beautiful ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
