Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Holiday Towers, beautiful ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
