Vacation rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican's Landing Unit 401 - Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
