Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Beach Dreams and Golfers Delight has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
