Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Pelican Landing 311 - Oceanview has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
