Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking the bestrental home:

  • Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Two Bedroom House with Community Pool! Walk To The Beach! 299 Lake Arrowhead Road has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
