Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Forest Villas A318 - Oceanview! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
