Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Refreshing lake view condo with hot tub, pool, patio, tennis court, & kitchen has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
