Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Refreshing lake view condo with hot tub, pool, patio, tennis court, & kitchen has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
