Rental home tips:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Remodeled Family Friendly Condo - Steps away from the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
