Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- First, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Renovated Oceanfront Condo that sleeps 6 with dishwasher in Myrtle Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
