How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Salty Air Retreat by the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
