Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Amazing Views--Direct Oceanfront..Family Resort--New Flooring, Couch and Paint has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
