Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Cozy Beach Cottage, Steps to Ocean and Shops has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
