Our top Vacation rental home tips:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sea Mist Resort 51205 Double Beds Full Kitchen! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
