Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Sea View Serenity: A Slice of Paradise has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
