Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Seaside Splendor - Pools - Grills - Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
