Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Seaside Splendor - Pools - Grills - Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
