Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Seaside Unicorn has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
