Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Seaside Unicorn has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
