Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking yourrental:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Seawatch 2BR\/2BA South Tower Ocean View Condo - Fantastic Resort Myrtle Beach SC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
