Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Seawatch Resort 616 - Oceanfront has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
