Strategies for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Seawatch Resort 616 - Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
