Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Seawatch Resort ????Coastal Sunsets ???? 2 bedroom 2 bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.

- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
