Strategies to get the best rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Shipwatch Pointe 3rd Floor Oceanview, Pool & Hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
