How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Shore Blessed 5 Bdr 3 Ba in Ocean Lakes has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
