Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. B117 at the Myrtle Beach Resort: Shoreline Serenity by the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
