Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Myrtle Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
