Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking yourrental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Huge Breathtaking Oceanfront Condo, Beautiful Decor, Drive to the 4th Floor Deck has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
