Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Spacious Coastal Retreat 2bd\/2ba Close to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
