Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site 5718 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
