Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. SUPERB OCEAN VIEWS FROM THIS BEAUTIFUL OCEAN VIEW CONDO has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
